According to the local health department, the emergency obstetrics and gynecology department at the Barreiro Hospital in Setubal district, which was supposed to reopen this Monday, will be closed until 8 a.m. Thursday.
This is the second emergency closure of the hospital’s gynecology/obstetrics emergency/maternity unit in March, following one that occurred in February.
The local health department of Arco Ribeirinho (ULSAR), which is part of the Barreiro/Montijo hospital and whose area of influence includes the municipalities of Alcochete, Barreiro, Moita and Montijo and a total of 236 thousand users, announced on its Facebook site that the Emergency Obstetrics Unit -Gynecological care will be closed until Thursday without further explanation.
According to a decision by the NHS Executive Directorate, the obstetrics and gynecology emergency department closed at 08:00 on 18 March and is due to reopen from 08:00 this Monday.
In the notice, ULSAR advises pregnant women to call SNS 24 (808242424) before traveling to the hospital or call 112 in emergency situations.
At the beginning of the year, the Executive Council announced the work plan for these services, determining that in the Setúbal Peninsula, the maternity ward of the local health unit (ULS) Almada Seixal (García de Orta Hospital) would close at the beginning of the year. at the end of the week (Saturday and Sunday), while the maternity wards of ULS Arco Ribeirinho (Hospital Barreiro Montijo) and ULS Arrábid (Hospital Center of Setúbal) maintain a temporary and rotating suspension of admissions.
In accordance with the scale established by the plan, the maternity ward of the local health center of Arrábida (Setúbal) will be closed this week and will only reopen on April 1st.
At the local health unit (ULS) of Almada Seixal (Hospital García de Orta), the service is open and closed only on weekends.
