The Civil Guard has found a man who has been missing in Spain for 21 years. Antonio Moncayo explained to authorities that he lived in a family of market traders and that he had worked as a market trader since 2007, according to El Espanol.
Antonio Moncayo was reported missing by his family on January 1, 2003. According to those close to him, the man had several financial and health problems and may have been living on the streets in Bilbao.
In recent years, several attempts have been made to locate this man, but all have been unsuccessful. Authorities even used the son’s DNA to try to see if there was any record of the man in any database, but nothing was found.
However, one thing intrigued the researchers. The missing man’s pension continued to be paid, and money was withdrawn twice a month in banknotes.
On March 19, the Civil Guard went to the location of the interviewer in Caparroso and found Antonio Moncayo in good health.
Antonio Moncayo explained to the authorities that since 2007 he had lived with a family of market traders. When asked if he intended to speak with the family again, he agreed, meeting with his daughter on March 20.
The police explained that since this was a voluntary disappearance of an adult, the investigation is aimed solely at finding him. The decision to inform family members of his whereabouts or any means of communication is made by the missing person.
