Pinto da Costa has officially re-nominated himself for the presidency of FC Porto.

Pinto da Costa, who has led Porto since April 17, 1982, officially announced his candidacy this Thursday for the next election of the club’s president, scheduled for April 27.

The Dragons’ president was in the Sardoeira Pinto Hall, in the Club Museum, to present more than two thousand signatures to the leader of the General Assembly Council, Lourens Pinto.

The leader said the goal is to restore the unity of the association after the elections.

“I wish that FC Porto continues to ride the wave of progress and victories, and I want that at the end of the elections the associative mass will unite again, because in the 42 years of my presidency I have always had an associative mass united, naturally, with the opposition, with proposals, with people who agree more, who agree less, but we have always been united. These will be the main goals, because, unfortunately, not everyone contributed to this,” he admitted to reporters.

Pinto da Costa also admitted that despite the “2,566 titles” won during his reign, he is thinking about the future and what the club can still achieve.

“The past is the past. There is a lot of it in the museum. I’m very proud of this. But I run not because of the past, but because of the future. I was proud to win 2566 titles. during my mandate. I was lucky enough to contribute to the birth of this stadium, this museum, our pavilion, a lot of things. Now it’s not about what I did, but about what I want to do at the Academy, which yesterday [quarta-feira] we presented, and in other projects we have. And continue to win championships in all sports,” he emphasized.

However, the candidate proposed Ricardo Valente for the presidency of the Financial and Disciplinary Council. Porto City Councilor, in charge of the Department of Finance, Economic Activities and Inspections, as well as the Department of Economy, Employment and Entrepreneurship, is one of the names announced by Pinto da Costa to complete the list.

“Ricardo Valente will be my president of the Financial Council, because there will be a total change in the financial part. Therefore, I realized that the President of the Financial Council should also be in the spirit of renewal and not due to incapacity, because Jorge Carvalho Guimarães has done an excellent job. “I’ve made a friend, but I understand that renovation is more than just a touch-up,” he said.

Pinto da Costa also expressed solidarity with Nuno Lobo, another presidential candidate who considers himself the most neglected by the media in this election.

“For my part, I do not forget Nuno Lobo, I even have great respect for him, because he showed an excellent portismo and a great sense of responsibility during the electoral process, unlike the other candidate. reject the bills, he abstained so that the life of the club could continue normally. Therefore, for my part, I don’t even have time to talk about other candidates. Now I agree that he is somewhat forgotten in the media,” he said and concluded.

In addition to Jorge Nuno Pinto da Costa and Nuno Lobo, former football team coach Andre Villas-Boas is a candidate for the presidency of FC Porto.
