Sandro Tonali, the Newcastle player, was this Thursday charged by the English Football Association (FA) for allegedly breaking the organization’s betting rules 50 times while he was already at the Magpies. The player therefore risks a longer ban as he will not play football in October this year after being suspended by the Italian federation for placing bets while playing for Milan.
“Sandro Tonali has been charged with misconduct in relation to alleged breaches of English Football Association betting rules. The Newscastle midfielder is alleged to have broken English FA rules E8 50 times by betting on football matches between 12 August 2023 and 12 October 2023. Sandro Tonali must respond by April 5, 2024,” the FA statement said.
Newcastle have already responded: “Newcastle admits allegations of misconduct against Sandro Tonali in connection with alleged breaches of English Betting Federation rules. Sandro continues to cooperate with the investigation, and the club maintains its support.”
