This is how the political parties with seats in parliament reacted this Thursday to the list of government officials presented by the leader of the Democratic Alliance, Luis Montenegro. With the exception of the SDP and SDS-PP, all party leaders believed that the new composition of the executive branch was not capable of responding to the country’s problems.
PS: “This seems to be causing a backlash.”
Socialist Pedro Delgado Alves believes the new government could threaten political stability and “appears to bring failure.”
“How, given what we have all seen in recent days, the instability that exists in parliament, how will this ministerial configuration overcome this difficulty, how will the future government intend to govern the country?” he asked.
Enough: “The government won’t last long”
Chegi President Andre Ventura felt that the choice of Alliance leader had not met expectations and stated that he believed the new government would not last long.
“It turned out that the prime minister-designate was incapable of recruiting prestigious people, which was what the country needed at this time. Montenegro could do much more. This government will not last long,” said Andre Ventura.
CDS. “Government will ‘restore dignity to police'”
Paulo Nuncio of the CDS-PP told reporters that the names presented showed a “reformist and ambitious” government that would “restore the dignity of the police force.”
“This is certainly a government that will implement the electoral program presented by AD. This is also a government ready to restore humanity and efficiency to social media. “Restore quality and standards in public schools and restore dignity to the police force,” he ordered.
PSD: “Old Fashioned Government”
Social Democratic lawmaker Hugo Soares says the list released shows an “old-fashioned government.”
“The new Portuguese government combines political experience with the ability to recruit civil society representatives. The government, in addition to this political experience, was also able to recruit from civil society. This seems very important to me. the old way,” he explained.
PAN: “Backsliding in the field of gender equality”
PAN spokeswoman Ines Souza Real called the composition of the executive branch “a regression in the field of gender equality.”
“This composition is a step backwards in the field of gender equality. We expected more,” he said.
“Knowledge of the composition confirms the concerns expressed by the PKP. We know the program and political profile of the selected individuals. This is not a government that guarantees solutions to the problems faced by the Portuguese,” he said.

Paulo Muacho, a Livre deputy, criticized the composition of the government, namely the merger of the ministries of infrastructure and housing.
“These are areas that have very specific, different problems, and these are areas that, from Livre’s point of view, are important for the future of the country, for the development of the country and deserve this political weight, to be controlled by their own ministries,” defended.
IL: “It seems too big”
Liberal Bernardo Blanco stressed that in the list presented by Montenegro, there is a balance between people with political experience and representatives of civil society. However, he considered that the executive branch had too many ministries.
“Youth do not need a ministry,” he emphasized.
BE: “The government smells of the past”
MP Fabian Figueiredo said the government “smells of the past and that it saved the figures from the troika.”
“This is the government that brings real estate figures to justice, that brings golden visa advocates into housing, that brings an anti-labor rights scientist into the Department of Labor, a cultural conservative. This is a new government that smells of the past, which saves several figures from the troika, so it will not bring solutions to the problems that exist in the country,” he said.
