On Thursday, security forces said the PNP arrested an 89-year-old man for illegal possession of weapons in Estarreja (Aveiro district), from whom several firearms and more than 10 kilograms of lead and gunpowder were seized.
In a statement, the GNR explained that as part of an investigation into the threats, which lasted around eight months, gardaí carried out five search warrants on Tuesday: two at home and three at a vehicle in the city. Fermelan.
During the searches, according to the Guard, several types of firearms were seized, namely six shotguns, an air rifle and an air pistol.
The military also seized more than 10 kilograms of gunpowder and lead for the production of ammunition, 790 ammunition of various calibers, one live ammunition, 76 salvo ammunition, 134 grenades and a “kit” for the production of ammunition.
“The suspect was arrested and charged, and the facts were reported to the Estarreja Judicial Court,” the same note reads.
