The Iranian consulate in Damascus was hit by several Israeli attacks this Monday, Syrian state media reported, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) reported that eight people were killed in unprecedented explosions.
Among the dead are Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior official of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the top Quds Force commander in charge of operations in Syria and Lebanon, the newspaper reported. Times of Israel.
“The Israeli strikes hit a building in the Mazzeh area of Damascus,” an area that includes the Iranian embassy and the United Nations building, the official Syrian news agency Sana reported.
The department added that “air defense systems attacked enemy targets in the vicinity” of the capital.
