The doubles match between Portugal’s Nuno Borges and Francisco Cabral, the 2022 champions, was also postponed at Tuesday’s Estoril Open tennis tournament due to rain, the organization said.
The rain, which prevented almost the entire start of the program in Tenis do Estoril, has already forced the meeting of the Portuguese Henrique Rocha with the Frenchman Gael Monfils to be postponed to Wednesday.
Since the organization states that games should not start before 16:00, only three of the five matches originally scheduled will be played at the center court.
The match between Portugal’s Jaime Faria and Spain’s David Jorda Sanchis was due to start at 12:00, followed by Austria’s Yuri Rodionov and Chile’s Cristian Garin, who began their clash on Monday but saw rain force it to be postponed until today.
Joao Sousa could make his final tournament debut of his career after finishing this match against fifth-seeded Frenchman Arthur Fils.
The penultimate meeting, originally scheduled to take place on Center Court, between Brazil’s Joao Fonseca, who plays Britain’s Ian Choinski, has also been postponed to Wednesday.
On the two secondary courts, only two matches that started before the break were retained: between Germany’s Dominik Koepfer and Spain’s Pablo Llamas Ruiz and between Argentina’s Federico Corria and Dutchman Botich vam de Sandschulp.
