Six drug dealers arrested by the PS last year in Albufeira were hiding more than €1.4 million in cash with 1,205kg of cocaine. The Prosecutor’s Office (MP) accuses them of crimes related to aggravated drug trafficking, criminal association, forgery of documents and false declaration.
According to the deputy, the accused, citizens of Portugal, Brazil, Egypt and Croatia, have been involved in drug trafficking “at least since the end of 2022 (…), operating as part of a criminal organization that, in particular, sold large quantities of cocaine” . The CM is aware that some of the accused lived for several months in luxury hotels and apartments before they were arrested on March 15, 2023 in Vale Paraiso, Albufeira, with more than 1.2 tons of cocaine packed in a truck and destined for other European countries. countries. During the investigation, nine properties were seized and approximately €1.4 million in cash was confiscated. It is assumed that the defendants could have made a profit in excess of 30 million euros from the sale of the narcotic product.
The deputy demanded that the accused be tried in a collective court, and all of them remain in pre-trial detention.
