A fire at a poultry farm on Thursday led to the complete destruction of the building and the death of about 8 thousand chickens, the deputy head of the Vuzela volunteer fire service told the Lusa news agency.
“When we arrived, the enclosure was already completely engulfed in flames, but we managed to keep him in the enclosure since it is near the town of Rebordinho,” said Pedro Mateus.
The deputy head of the Vuzela fire department also said that the fire, “the causes of which are still unknown, completely destroyed the poultry house and caused the death of about 8 thousand chickens.”
According to the Subregional Civil Protection Command of Viseu-Dau-Lafoínes, the fire alarm was received at 7:21 a.m. at a poultry farm located in Rebordinho, in the municipality of Vouzela, Viseu district.
To extinguish the fire, which was considered extinguished at 7:59 a.m., 21 operatives were mobilized, supported by eight vehicles of the Vouzel volunteer firefighters and the National Republican Guard (NR).
