The Medicines Regulator (Infarmed) assured this Thursday that it “complies with the current legislation regarding the Authorization for Exclusive Use” (AUE) of drugs in the case of Portuguese-Brazilian twins treated in Lisbon with a drug worth millions of euros.
According to a report published this Thursday, the General Inspectorate of Medical Activities (IGAS) concluded that access to neuropediatric consultation for Portuguese-Brazilian twins treated at the Santa Maria Hospital with drugs worth millions of euros was illegal, recommending Infarmed – The National Medicines and Health Products Administration follows the process for submitting, assessing and approving requests for AUE in accordance with the AUE provision of the Medicines Regulations.
In a statement, Infarmed assures that it “complied in the case under consideration and will continue to comply with the current legislation in matters of AUE.”
