Two PNP soldiers from Feira, Aveiro district, will stand trial for allegedly failing to issue a traffic ticket at the request of a colleague, according to a court decision seen by Luza this Friday.
A ruling by the Court of Appeal of Porto (TRP) on February 28 rejected the appeal of the Prosecutor’s Office (MP) and upheld the decision of the Feira Criminal Court, which sentenced the accused to trial for the crime. and the other on aggravated forgery of documents.
The two soldiers also face the additional penalty of being banned from performing their duties.
In addition to falsifying documents, the deputy accused the defendants of a denial of justice, but the criminal investigation judge realized that the act he was charged with was part of another legal type of crime with which they were accused.
The criminal events occurred on November 13, 2020, when two military personnel on patrol duty went out into the street in Santa Maria da Feira because there had been a traffic accident there.
Upon arrival, troopers found a damaged vehicle parked on the sidewalk and warned the owner and his wife that a report would be required for the aforementioned violation.
Meanwhile, a friend of the couple arrived on the scene and, according to the indictment, called a GNR corporal who also worked at the same territorial post as the accused and contacted his colleagues, telling them not to press charges, both deciding not to file a report. administrative offense.
The indictment also alleges that in order to cover up the crime and avoid collecting a misdemeanor report they knew was due for parking on the sidewalk, one of the accused troopers changed the designation “sidewalk” to “sidewalk” on the sketch. involved in a traffic accident.
