Portugal will send 54 National Republican Guard (GNR) soldiers and 53 Public Security Police (PSP) agents to strengthen security measures at the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, national authorities confirmed to Luse this Friday.
When asked by Lusa, the GNR confirmed the deployment of “54 military personnel to support and reinforce the French police in the security operation at the Olympic and Paralympic Games” this summer in Paris “as part of international police cooperation and in response to a request for cooperation.”
“The GNR will provide enhanced policing in a collaborative and integrated manner with French security forces and services through foot and mounted patrols, security and document fraud, border controls and explosive detection using kinesthetic binomials in cities. Paris, Bordeaux, Marseille and Chateauroux” describes the military security forces in detail.
