Four facilities had to be evacuated due to a fire that broke out this Saturday in a forested area on the island of Crete in Greece, reports Reuters. About 120 firefighters, supported by two helicopters, are fighting the fire.
Forest fires in Greece are common during the summer months, but the government said extremely dry, windy and hot conditions have made the situation worse, according to Reuters. Last year, an 11-day fire in the northeast destroyed an area larger than New York City and killed 20 people.
