The march for Palestine began in Lisbon with the participation of several hundred people

The April march for Palestine set off from Lisbon’s Municipal Square shortly after 3:30 pm towards Largo do Intendente, passing through Largo do Carmo to sing the symbolic song “Grandola Vila Morena”.

The demonstration comes six months after the war began in the Gaza Strip, and the organization – United Platform for Palestine Solidarity – estimates the participation of “several hundred” people.

The march, carrying Palestinian flags, a scarf symbolizing the Palestinian struggle, posters and slogans calling for “an end to the occupation and an immediate ceasefire” in Portuguese and English, began at 3:40 p.m.

Present is Lara Aladina, who has been involved with the cause since 1981, when she was 9 years old, because it is “injustice” and she will continue “until she dies” to defend the cause, be it recognition of the State of Palestine. or assistance that he believes will be needed after that point.

According to the protester, “Fascism takes advantage of ignorance, and the problem of Palestine is precisely the manipulation through ignorance of people who do not know what is happening and therefore end up following Arab terrorist propaganda.”

This Sunday marks six months since the Hamas attack on Israeli territory, which Israel says killed about 1,200 people and took 250 hostage.

The Unitary Platform for Palestine Solidarity (PUSP) called for an “April for Palestine” demonstration to mark the 50th anniversary of the Carnation Revolution.

“In a year when Portugal celebrates 50 years of Freedom and the end of fascism, colonial occupation and ethnic cleansing continue in Palestine under the passive gaze of the international community,” the organization said.

In response to the attack, Israel responded with attacks on the Gaza Strip, killing more than 33,000 people there, according to Hamas.
