Dutch far-right Geert Wilders presented his party’s (PVV) program for the June European elections this Monday without any mention of “Nexit” (the Dutch version of “Brexit”, the exit of the United Kingdom from the European Union).”
Wilders, officially the only member of the Freedom Party (PVV), whose program has so far included an immediate withdrawal of the Netherlands from the European Union (EU), no longer supports calling a referendum for this purpose, today admitting that “there is no longer any support for Nexit,” although he continues to talk about “saving” it from the influence of Brussels, arguing that the community’s power must be “undermined from within.”
“We want to make sure that the Union is an economic union and as little as possible a political union. On migration, we want to leave the EU slightly, with one exception. We prefer to do this rather than leave the EU. completely, something that only one in five Dutch people now supports,” he said.
