Pinto da Costa winks at women

Pinto da Costa’s promise to create a women’s football team within the next term is seen by some as a “wink” to the club’s women’s universe. The blue and white teams are already competing with women’s teams under 13 and under 15. But the presidential candidate’s desire is to create a senior team “with the ambition to fight for victories.” Women’s senior football has been a reality for many years in Benfica, Sporting and Braga.

The lack of a strong commitment to creating senior women’s teams in team sports has been cited on several occasions as a failure of Pinto da Costa’s management. Currently, only the volleyball team demonstrates the ability to compete for titles in indoor sports.

Rita Moreira – vocals
The absence of women was also noted in the management structure of FC Porto. In the list now proposed by Pinto da Costa, the inclusion of Rita Moreira on the board of directors appears to be a novelty. Here we also see the current president’s concern about giving more space to the female universe, albeit with a secondary role.
