Residents of Grandola mourn with great emotion what happened and talk about “a very big tragedy.”
My son asked me to go fishing
Francisco, the rescued victim, asked his father, who had gone to sea on Saturday, to go fishing with him. The next day the father returned to Troy and took with him, in addition to his son, his brothers Gabriel and Jose.

An investigation into the incident has been opened
The investigation into the deaths is being carried out by the Setúbal Marine Police and was handed over to the ministry on Sunday to remove the bodies and carry out an autopsy.
The investigation into the maritime disaster was launched this Monday by the captain of the port of Setúbal, Commander Serrano Augusto.
The story of the only survivor saved

The man explained that the accident happened very quickly and he did not have time to do anything. He added that he did not know the crew who were planning to go sport fishing.

Bishop prays for victims
The Bishop of Setúbal, Cardinal Américo Aguiar, responded to the flooding.Troy Square. The cardinal said “prayers” go out to the families of the missing.
“As we learn of the shipwreck off Troy this morning, our prayers go out to the castaways, their families and the various security, civil defense and fire agents. May Mary, Lady of Troy, Lady of Arrabida, intercede for your son, Lord Bonfim, for the salvation of these brothers of ours,” said Bishop Setubal.
Search in different ways
The search for the missing crew resumed this morning in Praia Atlantica. Maritime Police and Portuguese Navy personnel were on site with boats, drones and ships.
The search by sea, land and air will resume on Tuesday, Setubal port captain and local maritime police chief Serrano Augusto said, adding that the perimeter would be expanded.
“We’re going to extend the search a little further to eight nautical miles, about 15 kilometers, both north and west of the position” where the ship was signaled to sink, he explained.
This decision was made because during the work carried out “there were no reports of sightings either from the personnel involved in the search or from other vessels sailing in the area,” he explained.
Therefore, on Tuesday, “at dawn, at 7:30 am”, the operation will be resumed and should cover the area “as far south as Praia da Comporta”. According to him, the Navy patrol ship NRP Viana do Castelo will be replaced by NRP Sines.
“We will have a lifeboat, an all-terrain vehicle that will travel on the sand, and two drones, one from the National Maritime Administration, the other from the Naval Operational Experiment Center, which will work in rotation,” he said, noting that these assets involve participation elements of the Maritime Police, the ASM and the Portuguese Navy.
