Amorim is the most searched word in England

Liverpool fans are excited about the possibility of Ruben Amorim coaching the English club next season, and as of Tuesday, “Amorim” was even the most searched word on Google in the UK.

The Portuguese coach is generating a lot of curiosity among Brits who want to know a little more about the man who could be Jurgen Klopp’s successor.

Liverpool’s interest in Ruben Amorim has been ongoing for some time. On Tuesday, a Reds source denied to Sky Sports that there had been a verbal agreement with the 39-year-old Portuguese coach, describing the information as “completely inaccurate”. The same source also added that the club had not identified preferred targets for next season, however, noting that the club was assessing a “reasonable process regarding the number of candidates” for the vacancy that Klopp will leave open.

The British desire to know Amorim better was not limited to the fans. British media have also created profiles of the Portuguese coach, with some remembering that the coach “speaks good English” so would not need a translator.

Amorim, who could do a double this season, is one of those wanted by Liverpool, but is also coveted by Manchester United, West Ham and Barcelona. The Sporting coach has two more years left on his contract (until 2026), but he will be able to go abroad after paying a release clause of 20 million euros. For the Portuguese club, this termination clause is higher and amounts to 30 million euros.

“Without Amorim, Gyo can leave”
“It will be more difficult for Victor to stay if Ruben Amorim leaves Sporting.” Because Victor came precisely because of Ruben,” Hasan Cetinkaya, the Swedish international’s agent, said on Tuesday. On the other hand, the striker was voted the League’s Player of the Month for March in a vote conducted by the Players’ Union. Giokeres has already received this award for August and September.

Abel Ferreira and Lage in the crosshairs
As the desire for Ruben Amorim grows, Sporting are wary of a possible successor. Abel Ferreira (Palmeiras) and Bruno Lage (no club) are two names on the Leonines’ agenda. The former is the most coveted and spent time at Sporting, a club he represented for six seasons (2005 to 2011) as a player. In Alvalad he began his career as an under-19 coach. But high salaries can be an obstacle. Bruno Lage has a past at rivals Benfica, where he was champion, but is currently without a club after leaving Botafogo.
