The man was arrested on suspicion of rape, assault, coercion and kidnapping committed since last October in Espinho and Santa Maria da Feira.
“The defendant, taking advantage of the difficult economic situation and emotional dependence of the victim, a 49-year-old woman, his close relative, kept her in restriction of freedom of movement and under constant threat to her life and physical integrity. Coercion to violent sexual acts,” the judicial police said in a statement (JV), published this Thursday.
The detained 53-year-old man already had a criminal record for crimes of a similar nature and was already serving prison sentences. He was already present at the first judicial interrogation and was in custody.
