The suspects arrested this Wednesday for possessing illegal weapons are prohibited from traveling to the city of Leiria, the Leiria court ruled this Thursday, according to a PSP report.
The five detainees of the Leiria PSP as part of Operation Urano were heard this Thursday by the criminal investigation judge of the Leiria Judicial Court, who imposed on them a coercive measure in the form of a ban on contact with witnesses and travel to the city of Leiria, announced the PSP Leiria District Command.
According to the PSP, as a result of Operation Urano, carried out in Coimbra, Peso da Regua (Vila Real district) and Penacove (Coimbra district), five people aged between 21 and 53 years were arrested and four were convicted as part of the investigation the alleged perpetrators of the attack on three men outside a nightclub on New Year’s Eve.
In a statement, the PSP said four of these arrests were the result of egregious crimes related to the illegal possession of weapons and ammunition. The fifth arrest is related to a traffic crime.
As part of the ongoing investigation, four other people, aged between 17 and 34, “are suspected of theft and assault” have also been charged.
“The facts relate to the early hours of January 1 this year, when a group of about ten people brutally attacked three men outside a nightclub in the city center of Leiria,” PSP said in a press release. release.
After seven searches of the home and seven searches of the home, two firearms and ammunition of varying calibers were seized on Wednesday.
The PSP also seized a wooden knife, a butterfly knife, a dagger, a crowbar, 18 doses of cocaine and several items of clothing “that may serve as evidence for prosecutors in the ongoing investigation.”
