A woman has been arrested for smuggling drugs into prison using pieces of paper. She ran a human trafficking scheme while her husband was in prison.

A 32-year-old woman was arrested for drug trafficking through sheets of paper in a Coimbra prison. The husband was serving his sentence and tried to sell the substances to other prisoners, the SP said on Friday.

According to the statement, both the woman and her husband were involved in an overall drug distribution scheme inside the prison.

The woman’s visits provided the opportunity to present drugs sealed in sheets of paper, and her husband was selling the substances to other prisoners. The scheme resulted in “large profits.”

The woman was present at the judicial interrogation, and the most serious coercive measure of restraint in the system was applied to her.
