Did you know that there are foods that increase sexual desire? An Australian nutritionist has revealed a list of foods that are “true aphrodisiacs” and should be consumed by anyone who wants to improve their sex life.

According to Daily mailClaudia Calisto, founder of Total Health & Wellbeing, focuses on hormonal treatments when treating patients with low libido.

Fruits and vegetables

The main recommendation for improving sexual desire is to include raspberries, blueberries and similar fruits in your diet. Raspberries and blueberries are rich in zinc, a mineral that can increase testosterone production in men. Additionally, they are rich in antioxidants, which are known to increase blood flow to the genitals.

Another fruit that features prominently on the list is watermelon as it contains L-citrulline, an essential amino acid that helps improve blood flow, which can reduce erectile dysfunction.

Broccoli is on the list of vegetables that nutritionists recommend eating daily. They contain indole-3-carbinol, which may prevent the development of cancers caused by estrogen, such as breast, endometrial and cervical cancer.

“Good fats”

Claudia Calisto also promotes a diet rich in avocado and olive oil, attributing certain aphrodisiac properties to them.

According to the expert, avocado is considered a natural aphrodisiac as it is rich in phytonutrients and helps dilate and increase blood flow to the genitals.

Extra virgin olive oil works wonders by activating the hormone testosterone, which triggers sexual desire, thereby enhancing orgasms.

Shellfish

For nutritionists, oysters are a “natural aphrodisiac” due to their high zinc content. Claudia Calisto explains that with each ejaculation, a man loses about one milligram of zinc. Therefore, this mineral needs to be replenished regularly to maintain health and good sex drive.

Herbs and spices

The expert also recommends two herbs that stimulate sexual desire: saffron and red ginseng.

Chronic stress disrupts hormonal balance and can reduce libido. Natural compounds in saffron help regulate stress hormones and promote a feeling of calm by supporting healthy serotonin levels.

Red ginseng also reduces stress, promotes relaxation and significantly improves blood flow to the genitals.

“Reducing your stress levels is a great way to boost your libido and overall sexual well-being,” he explains.

Beverages

Green tea and red wine are also included in the diet, which can help improve your sex life, says Claudia Calisto.

Green tea is rich in compounds called catechins, which improve blood flow and help reduce belly fat.

The nutritionist also highlights that the antioxidants present in matcha (made from green tea leaves) are more concentrated than those found in green tea. One cup of matcha is equal to three cups of green tea. The antioxidants present in matcha help in blood flow to the genitals, maintaining good blood circulation.

Organic red wine helps both male and female libido. It improves the function of the inner lining of the heart and blood vessels and increases blood flow to various parts of the body, including the genitals.

The nutritionist also stresses the importance of drinking water, saying, “Staying hydrated helps maintain high blood cell and plasma volume, which is essential for high sex drive.”
