The images have traveled around the world and will likely forever remain in compilations of the most bizarre moments in football history. Abderrazaq Hamdallah, one of Al Ittihad’s figures, was beaten after the team’s 4-1 loss to Jorge Jesus’ Al Hilal in the Saudi Super Cup final.
In the photographs you can see how the Moroccan national team striker, who scored the team’s only goal, goes towards the fan and pours water on him. The reaction was not the best: the man hit the player several times… with a whip.
After being publicly humiliated, Hamdallah now faces punishment. According to information published in Saudi Arabia, the player faces a two-game disqualification and a fine of 55 thousand euros for provoking a fan.
“Hamdallah will be punished for this incident in accordance with the current rules. This will be considered shameful behavior and will be punished,” Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper emphasizes.
