Gil Vicente of the Portuguese Football League confirmed this Saturday the appointment of coach Tose Marreco, who has signed a current commitment with the Minho emblem until 2025.
The 36-year-old coach, who was in charge of Second Liga side Tondela, replaces Vitor Campelos, who was sacked earlier this week due to inconsistent results, leaving the team in 14th place with 28 points.
This will be Tose Marreco’s first professional call-up in League One after starting his career as head coach at Oliveira do Hospital in the Portuguese Championship, where he spent two seasons before moving to Tondela in League Two. where he spent almost two seasons, leaving Beira’s team in fifth place in the championship.
The new Halos coach will hold his first training session in Barcelos this Sunday, starting preparations for the next round game against Moreirense.
Gilles Vicente was led on Friday by Carlos Cunha, the under-23s coach, who took temporary charge of the team in a 4-0 rout against leaders Sporting to open the 29th round of the I League.
