The 22-year-old disappeared this Saturday in Praia da Vieira (Marinha Grande) after encountering difficulties at sea. The rescue operation, in which a firefighter from Vieira de Leiria was wounded in the leg, involved two lifeboats from the Captaincy of Nazaré, maritime police officers, local firefighters and an air force aircraft. The victim was taken to Leiria hospital.
This was announced by the official representative of the National Maritime Administration, Commander Souza Luis. CM that during the same action another 26-year-old man managed to escape from the sea.
This Saturday, 30-degree heat caused flooding on the beaches, dozens of people were rescued from the sea.
Fifty-four people were rescued in Cascais, 42 of whom were in Carcavelos, after 22 were rescued on the same beach on Friday. Six people were rescued in Praia do Tamaris. Before the drowning, two of the victims were in serious condition: one was taken to the Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon and the other to the Cascais Hospital.
And in Ericeira (Mafra) on Praia Sul, firefighters rescued two young people.
In turn, in Comporta (Grandola), members of the public rescued two girls and a boy.
In Espinho, two women, aged 30 and 21, were rescued on Bahia beach by local firefighters with the support of a lifeguard.
The search for the 16-year-old boy who disappeared on Friday in Vila Nova de Gaia, in Praia de Salgueiros, resumed this Sunday.
