Andre Villas-Boas wants to implement a new sports management model by 2025

The implementation of the new management paradigm from the formation of the main football team of FC Porto should be completed by 2025, according to Andre Villas-Boas, a candidate for club president in the April 27 elections.

According to the List B election program, which Luz’s agency had access to this Wednesday, this is the first of five strategic goals in a ten-year vision presented by the former Blaugrana coach, whose “absolute priority” will be the club’s “sporting philosophy.”

The football structure will be headed by a sports director, whose name will be announced on Thursday. It should include former Spain international Andoni Zubizarreta, who already worked with Andre Villas-Boas at French club Marseille between 2019 and 2020.

He will be responsible for the directors of the areas of professional football, player scouting, training, performance and women’s football, linked together in an organizational model capable of “reflecting the complexity and multi-dimensionality of modern football and at the same time emphasizing the importance of having the right people in the right places and at any time.”

Four of these directors are still unknown, but the program proposes Pedro Silva to head the executive office at all levels of the Dragons.

Andre Villas-Boas wants FC Porto to have a renewed infrastructure between 2025 and 2027, which confirms his emphasis on training in all forms. This goal is reinforced by the construction of a high-performance center for professional teams in Olival, in the surrounding area. the current sports training and training center of PortoGaia.

The project will feature a pavilion for sports, including futsal, whose short-term vision ranges between the parallel development of young people on the courts and in U12 football and training for individual entry into futsal at U15 level. and up to 17 years old.

Also pointing to the creation of under-17, under-19 and senior women’s football teams for next season, the There’s Only One Porto list intends to explore the possibility of the return of men’s athletics and volleyball, as well as their respective youth teams. , in 2025/26.

The third axis of André Villas-Boas’s vision aims to create a strong and valuable brand in the market between 2026 and 2028, based on continuous participation in benchmark international competitions and on the basis of good corporate governance practices.

A non-executive ethics committee, a code of conduct transversal to the FC Porto group structure and a transparency portal are just some of the proposals on List B, which aims to strengthen the club’s relationship with national and international football regulators.

Economic and financial restructuring is another priority of André Villas-Boas and should be consolidated from 2028 to 2032. “It is necessary to find new sources of revenue, reduce operating costs and begin a path of debt reduction” to alleviate dependence on UEFA funds. and balance the balance without limiting athletic success.

Strong management, increasing operating income and generating results through improved asset values are ways to review this financial policy, which will prioritize reducing liabilities through a “renegotiation of terms and debt servicing” to ensure the club’s current ownership model is maintained.

Villas-Boas, promoting incentives in relations with partners and fans, as well as the digital transformation of several divisions of the FC Porto group, hopes that the “dragons” will become a model inside and outside the country between 2032 and 2034, uniting 10 best players European club rankings.

“The program is not just a strategy for winning this election. It is a vision, a commitment and, above all, the embodiment of the passion that we share for FC Porto, combined with the demands and responsibilities inherent in the presidency of the club,” he pointed out.

In the elections to the governing bodies of FC Porto for the four-year period 2024–2028. Three candidates are participating, led by the current Blaugrana president Pinto da Costa (List A), Andre Villas-Boas (B) and Nuno. Lobo (C), businessman and professor, also on the independent list of the High Council headed by Miguel Bras da Cunha (D).

The election event will take place on April 27 from 9:00 to 20:00 at the Dragao stadium in Porto, while Pinto da Costa is serving his 15th consecutive term since 1982, which entitles him to the status of manager with the most titles and longevity in world football.
