The Ministry of State (MP) is investigating a case of alleged harassment and abuse of power at the Center for Social Studies (CES) of the University of Coimbra, confirmed this Friday by the Attorney General’s Office (PGR).
“On this issue, the prosecutor’s office received a report from the independent commission of the CoES and a letter from the collective of victims. These two documents, after analysis, gave rise to an investigation that is currently being investigated by DIAP. [Departamento de Investigação e Ação Penal] Coimbra,” PGR said in response to Lusa.
At the heart of this case are complaints by three researchers who have passed through the CES of the University of Coimbra about situations of harassment in a book chapter entitled “Sexual misconduct in the Academy – for the ethics of care in the university.” which led to researchers Boaventura Souza Santos and Bruno Sena Martins being removed from all positions they held at CES.
