The Ponta Delgada hospital in the Azores has launched an investigation after an inpatient was found “stretched out on the ground” “outside the building” of the hospital ward, it was announced this Friday.
In a brief statement, the board of directors of the Divino Espiritu Santo Hospital in Ponta Delgada said it was aware of “an incident involving a patient admitted to Medicina II” early on Friday morning.
According to a press release, the clinic’s management was alerted to “the presence of a body lying on the ground outside the hospital building.”
“As for the specific circumstances of what happened, it is premature to give an explanation, since the board of directors has already decided to launch an investigation,” the administration says.
This medical unit also ensures that “all means of assistance have been deployed” and the patient is conscious.
“All medical and nursing resources were deployed and police were also contacted. The patient was conscious, hemodynamically stable and remained under medical supervision,” according to a statement sent to the newsroom.
