A teenager with Down syndrome has broken the record for being the youngest runner in his category to complete a marathon.
Lloyd Martin, 19, ran the London Marathon with his mother helping him as a guide.
“According to Lloyd, he is living the dream. Anything is possible if we dedicate ourselves to it. With a little effort, we can achieve this,” the mother said, as quoted BBC.
Lloyd is the youngest person ever to run a Category II2 marathon.
“It was just amazing. He ran more than 22 kilometers in a row. The public was delighted, he was applauded,” his mother added.
The young man’s mother believes that the achievement was important for people with Down syndrome.
“We didn’t say much when we crossed the finish line. We just burst into tears,” he concluded.
