This Wednesday, the Food and Economic Security Authority (ASAE) warned about the practice of fraud by false inspectors in the Baixo Alentejo region.
According to ASAE, there are people who pretend inspectors of the above-mentioned body “who, by illegal means and by using fictitious situations, seek to obtain for their own benefit payments or benefits that are not due to them, in a practice that has been was adopted a few months ago and at the national level.”
The method used involves notifying economic operators of an alleged administrative offense requiring payment of a fine. NIn other situations, the practice of filling out verification forms to simulate verification actions with subsequent notification of an alleged administrative offense has been identified.
“This is a fraudulent attempt to obtain illegal benefits and privileges by usurping the powers and functions of an authority and therefore economic operators should under no circumstances follow this instruction,” said a statement issued by ASAE.
