On Thursday, PAN considered that the head of state had forgotten about issues such as the fight against climate change or threats to the media, and praised the speech of the President of the Assembly of the Republic.
This position was expressed by Ines de Souza Real following the ceremonial meeting dedicated to the 50th anniversary on April 25 in the Assembly of the Republic, at which she also expressed concern about the rise of forces that are contrary to democracy and human rights. .
“These are forces that want to restore a regime that is taking steps backwards in the field of human rights, especially in the field of women’s rights, equality and inclusion,” he said.
Regarding the recent positions of Marcelo Rebelo de Souza, the PAN deputy says that when she spoke about the duty towards the former colonies, “she forgot about the duty towards all the people who built the 25th of April.”
“This duty materializes in the importance of tackling new challenges, such as combating climate change, medically assisted dying or media whose stability and independence are under threat,” he said.
Ines Souza Real then praised the speech delivered today by the President of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, noting that he delivered an “open and pluralistic speech” that included the participation of various political forces.
“We welcome the speech of the Chairman of the Assembly of the Republic,” he emphasized.
