Starting next Monday, February 6, fuel prices will return to a decline after rising over the past three weeks, becoming more expensive throughout January, a source in the sector told Negócios.
According to the Main Directorate of Energy and Geology, nLast Monday, fuel prices were 1.65 euros per liter of diesel fuel and 1.739 euros per liter of gasoline.
The next week’s trend will be lower prices. Regular gasoline 95 should fall 4 cents per liter and regular diesel should fall 8 cents per liter, the biggest decline since the beginning of the year.
Thus, prices for two types of fuel should remain at the level of 1.699 euros per liter of gasoline, again falling from the threshold of 1.7 euros. In the case of diesel fuel, it should be set at 1.57 euros per liter, compared to 1.6 euros, which has not been the case for three weeks.
Gasoline will still be more expensive than diesel fuel, the difference will grow to 12.9 cents.
This fuel refresh comes in a week during which crude oil traded in both New York and London is expected to register a negative weekly balance for the second consecutive time. And this at a time when the growth in demand from China is beginning to fade, with the strengthening of “stocks” in the US to overcome this factor.
U.S. oil inventories rose to their highest level since June 2021, according to data released on Wednesday by the Energy Information Administration (IEA, in its original acronym).
Average daily prices are determined by DGEG based on prices reported by gas stations, weighted by quantity sold in the last known period, taking into account discounts practiced at gas stations such as fleet cards and others.
