The head of the list of the European Democratic Alliance (AD), Sebastian Bugalho, announced this Monday that the electoral program will be presented next week and promised that if elected he will fulfill his mandate.
“I can tell you right now that we will present our election programme, our European manifesto during the week of Europe Day, celebrated on May 9th, we intend to present a number of proposals to the Portuguese and Europeans, of course this week we are really ready to fight,” Sebastian Bugallo said.
The candidate of AD, a coalition uniting PSD, CDS-PP and PPM, spoke to journalists at the Constitutional Court (TC) in Lisbon as part of the presentation of the list for the European elections on June 9.
Bugalajo said his goal was to “serve the European Parliament” and made a commitment.
“I will fulfill my mandate and I hope that my opponents will also be able to take on this obligation,” he emphasized.
The candidate was also questioned over statements by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who at a dinner with foreign journalists last week believed that the AD list for the European elections was “completely improvised” and kept secret until it was released.
“Apparently, the president of the republic has nothing against improvisation; he is an improviser par excellence. Therefore, in this sense, I am confident that the president will not make any critical comments about this candidacy. a very journalistic description, perhaps in deference to his former functions, now as president,” he said.
Bugalho refused to comment on further statements by the President of the Republic, repeating that his attention is “focused on the European project, the protection of the Portuguese in Europe and Europe in the world” and not “to comment on everyday disputes, especially since this has been going on for more than a day.”
