The United States and Mexico have withdrawn their joint bid for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

This Monday, the United States and Mexico withdrew their joint candidacy to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup, preferring to focus on 2031, the two federations announced.

In a joint press release, the two federations, which will co-host the men’s world championships with Canada in 2026, explained that the decision will allow them to better prepare for the 2031 event.

FIFA is expected to vote on whether to host the 2027 World Cup within two weeks at its Congress in Bangkok. Two candidates remain on the negotiating table: a joint one from Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands and one from Brazil.
