A British policeman has been charged with a terrorism offense for allegedly publishing a pro-Hamas image, the agency writes. Reuters.
Mohammed Adil, 26, from Bradford in northern England, was arrested in November last year and charged in a counter-terrorism investigation, police in northeast Britain said.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), the police watchdog, said the investigation was focusing on messages posted on WhatsApp and concluded the case should be referred to prosecutors.
“On Monday, police officer Mohammed Adil, 26, was charged with two counts of publishing an image in support of a banned organization, specifically Hamas, in violation of Section 13 of the Terrorism Law. The crimes were allegedly committed in October and November. 2023,” the IOPC said in a statement.
Adil, a police officer, has been suspended from West Yorkshire Police and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London this Thursday.
