Residents of London’s Hainault remain in shock after Tuesday’s attack in which a man armed with a sword killed a 14-year-old boy and injured four people, including two police officers.
The panic only ended when police used a stun gun to stop the suspect from continuing his attacks in the British capital.
The footage shows a man wearing a yellow shirt and carrying a sword almost a meter long being chased by police. One of the officers yells at people to close their doors.
A neighbor says the suspect crashed into a house and then wreaked havoc on the streets of the north-east London town.
“I heard a lot of screams and realized that the man who went to check if everything was okay was hit in the neck by the driver, who then got out of the car and started everything,” said a local resident. Mirror.
“I can’t stop thinking about the baby. I can’t stop seeing his face. The child’s life is lost,” another neighbor added.
Another witness saw the body on the floor hiding in the window. He says the suspect tried to attack officers with a sword, but they used spray and he fled.
“He shouted at the police and ambulance crew: ‘Do you believe in God?’ – says the witness.
The man was stopped only 22 minutes after the first emergency call.
The 36-year-old suspect was in hospital on Tuesday evening after being detained on suspicion of murder. Authorities say the man has no criminal record.
