The Portuguese Petit is the new coach of Cuiaba, signing a contract until the end of 2025, the team that finished 20th and last in the Brazilian Football Championship announced this Thursday.
“Cuiaba officially announces the hiring of coach Armando Gonçalves Teixeira, known as Petit, with a contract until December 31, 2025,” reads the club’s publication on the social network X. For the club in the state of Mato Grosso, Petit will take over the assistants of Mario Nunez, Nuno Pereira and Germano Pires, as well as analyst Thiago Pinto.
Petit, 47, will have his first coaching experience abroad since leaving Boavista this season. The former Portuguese international midfielder began his coaching career at Cessados in the 2012/13 season, after which he worked at Tondela, Moreirense, Pacos de Ferreira, Maritimo and B SAD.
Cuiabá started the season with another Portuguese coach, António Oliveira, who also played five matches in the state championship before moving to Corinthians, where he was replaced by Brazilian Luiz Fernando Ubel before Petit arrived.
Durado, champions of Mato Grosso state, are in 20th and last place in Brazil, still without a single point after losing their first three matches.
