Amnesty International (AI) stressed this Thursday that journalism continues to be a “true act of courage” in many parts of the world, remembering professionals who have fallen victim to the war in the Gaza Strip.
On Friday’s World Press Freedom Day, AI is calling for a statement that “freedom of information will always overcome the attacks it faces”, highlighting the “crucial role” of journalists and the “dangers they still face” at the global level.”
According to the organization, in some parts of the world the practice of journalism is “threatened, persecuted, reviled and criminalized” and “the collection, processing and dissemination of information – so that its reality can be made known – is a real act of bravery.”
