On Thursday, the President of the Republic defended the development of “no brakes” cooperation between the governments of Portugal and Cape Verde when asked about the possible return of cultural heritage to the former colonies.
On the last day of his visit to the African country, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa noted the “creative forms” of cooperation between the two states, citing as an example the “conversion of debt into a domestic fund for investment” in Cape Verde, something “unthinkable” for the Portuguese president.
The head of state said the two countries have benefited from a “virtuous combination” of the will of governments and heads of state on both sides who are overseeing the achievements that the two peoples are implementing together.
