An earthquake measuring 2.5 on the Richter scale was felt this Friday on the island of Terceira, the Azores Center for Seismic Volcanic Information and Observation (CIVISA) reported.
According to CIVISA, the earthquake was recorded at 7:50 a.m. local time (8:50 a.m. in Lisbon) and had an epicenter approximately three kilometers southeast of Serreta, on the island of Terceira.
“According to the information currently available, the earthquake was felt at maximum intensity IV (modified Mercalli scale) in the parishes of Altares, Raminho, Serreta and Dose Ribeiras (municipality of Angra do Heroísmo),” CIVISA said in a statement.
This event “is part of the ongoing seismic-volcanic crisis on the island of Terceira since June 2022.”
