Sporting coach Ruben Amorim admitted this Friday that the logistics of celebrating the football title are in preparation, but assured in the preview of the meeting with Portimonense that no one yet feels like national champions.
“All the logistics are being prepared, but this does not mean that anyone here already feels like a champion. Everything is being prepared so that there are no problems, but we are not thinking about any games, we are preparing the game. with Portimonense,” the coach said at a press conference in Alcochete.
The Lions can become champions on Sunday if they beat Algarve in the match of the 32nd round of the I League the day before, and Benfica does not do the same that day away from Famalicao.
In this sense, he once again stated that “the sooner” he wins the title, “the better”, demonstrating that he has no preference for doing it late in the game or watching the opponent’s match on television, and reminded that “there is still a long way to go way,” win six points, and “anything can happen.”
“We don’t think we can become champions this week because we think [apenas] is something we can control with two more wins. But we can do one thing and take a very big step in this direction,” he suggested.
Welcoming an Algarve side still fighting to stay in the top flight, the Sporting coach said striker Victor Dieukeres was “fit and will play” but did not specify whether he would start or from the bench spares.
He also admitted that he would not skimp on players facing suspension for the visit to Estoril in the next round if they receive a yellow card because the meeting with Portimonense is “the most important” and revealed that Matheus Reis had also recovered from injuries, but said there were other players with physical problems, without specifying which ones.
“Mateus Reis will be called. He started training with the team this week, towards the end, in the last two days. He has good characteristics for this game and we have had one or two problems this week, I will win this time.” I won’t tell you which ones [os jogadores]Therefore, he will already be called up,” he explained.
On Saturday, Sporting will host Portimonense in the 32nd round of the Portuguese Football League, which starts at 18:00 at the José Alvalade Stadium in Lisbon, where the referee is Iancu Vasilica (Vila Real).
The Ruben Amorim-coached team leads the table with 81 points, five more than Benfica, and could be crowned champions this round if they beat Algarve and the Reds don’t do the same on Sunday , having come to visit Famalican.
Portimonense have won just one of their last 12 meetings and are in 16th place in the supporting play-off position, five points above the direct relegation place, one point behind Estrela da Amador and two behind Boavista.
