Famalican – Benfica 0:0 | Break in the match

This Sunday, Famalican beat Benfica 2-0 in the match that ended the 32nd round of the I League and “offered” the title of national football champion to Sporting.

With the defeat of the Reds, Sporting became national football champions after beating Portimonense 3-0 this Saturday with two rounds remaining in the championship.

In a frantic start to the game, Benfica managed to get the ball into the goal after just three minutes, but the move was quickly overturned due to Di Maria being offside.

Two minutes later it was Famalicao’s turn to score, but Jonder Cadiz was also in the wrong position and the referee also ruled the move void.

The balance was maintained throughout the remaining 45 minutes, with both teams remaining dangerous near goal.

The Reds came very close to opening the scoring in the 18th minute, but it cost Luis Junior a careful save from Marcos Leonardo’s shot from Di Maria’s cross.

Benfica’s verdict came in the 85th minute when Famalicão extended their lead. After a mistake, Florentino Topic released Zaida, and, finding himself one on one with Trubin, the midfielder scored the second goal without hesitation.

In the end, there were many protests in the stands where the Benfica fans were. Roger Schmidt and the players arrived in the stands to be heavily booed after the defeat that gave Sporting the national title.
