Efacec workers today begin a two-hour strike per shift

Efacec workers begin a two-hour strike on this shift this Monday, which will be repeated on Wednesday and Friday, in defense of jobs and the strategic importance of the company.

“Following the plenary sessions held on April 17, the workers obliged the union to announce a two-hour strike for the shifts of May 6, 8 and 10, as well as to announce a strike to all workers. On these days, workers will be concentrated from 8:30 to 10:30 and from 17:00 to 19:00 in front of the company’s facilities in S. Mamede Infesta, Matosinhos.

According to the trade union structure that influences the CGTP, workers are demanding an agreement on a list of demands, protection of jobs and the continuation of Efacec as a strategic company.

“This strike, approved by the workers, is a “warning cry” confirming that they do not remain fearless and calm while the future of the company and their jobs may be jeopardized,” the union said, noting that the Mutares Foundation is ahead collective dismissal at Efacec Engenharia in April.

The state sold the entire Efacec company (nationalized in 2020) to the German investment fund Mutares.

As part of the sale, the state agreed to invest 160 million euros in the company, and Banco de Fomento will finance a further 35 million euros through the purchase of bonds (convertible into equity).

Efacec, which is headquartered in Matosinhos, has approximately 2,000 employees.
