In this sense, he condemned the attacks on immigrants that occurred in the city of Porto early on Friday morning, which had already led to the arrest of one person, and expressed “solidarity with all immigrants who seek Portugal as a destination.” in search of a better life.”
“We reject any acts of intimidation and harassment of immigrant workers, and we fight against racism and xenophobia that lead to discrimination against immigrant workers,” he emphasizes.
In this sense, it guarantees that it will continue to “intervene in the affairs of immigrant workers, calling for their organization in trade unions affiliated with the CGTP-IN, and mobilizing these workers to improve living and working conditions.”
Early on Friday morning, several immigrants were attacked in three different locations in the city of Porto, with at least two of the attackers receiving treatment at Sao Joao hospital.
In one case, the attack took place on the home of 10 immigrants on Rua do Bonfim, where a group of 10 men invaded.
Following the various attacks, six men were identified and one was arrested for possession of an illegal weapon, taken to court and remanded in custody pending trial.
