Travel agencies in Madeira are being raided this morning on suspicion of air travel fraud and misappropriation of social mobility subsidies provided to Madeiran citizens.
According to the SP, five people were detained. “The defendants, in order to obtain large illicit economic profits, decided to develop a criminal scheme with the aim of obtaining illicit income through a social mobility subsidy associated with hundreds of non-existent trips, the global value of improper reimbursements exceeding half a million euros,” can be read in the message.

It is not yet known which agencies are being targeted.
