A 50-year-old man died in a tractor accident. The accident occurred early on Sunday evening in the parish of Alfayo, Bragança. The victim was rescued by the Bragança fire service and the INEM medical team and taken to hospital, where he died early in the morning.
According to CM It was established that the victim was performing agricultural work when, for unknown reasons, the agricultural machine overturned and fell into an embankment. The death toll in tractor accidents in the Bragança region has risen to four in just one month.
A number of tractor accidents have already led GNR to suggest that raising awareness among farmers about this type of accident is a priority.
According to GNR, one of the main reasons for these incidents is the advanced age of farmers as well as overconfidence. On the other hand, more than 50 percent of tractors do not have protective structures such as arches or cabs, which are very important safety accessories.
