Portuguese referee Arthur Soares Dias will officiate the Europa Conference League final between Olympiacos and Fiorentina on May 29 in Athens, UEFA announced this Monday.
The 44-year-old Porto association referee will be assisted by assistant referees Paulo Soares and Pedro Ribeiro, while the video referee (VAR) will be Thiago Martins, who will also compete at the 2024 European Championship.
Soares Dias, who has already been to Euro 2020, will also count on Sweden’s Glenn Nyberg as fourth official and Mahbod Beigi as backup assistant referee, while Thiago Martins will have the support of Germany’s Christian Dingert and Marco Fritz.
This will be the fifth European club competition final with Portuguese referees, after António Garrido and Pedro Proença officiated the 1979/80 and 2011/12 Champions League finals respectively, and Vitor Pereira officiated the 2001/02 Champions League and 2001 UEFA Cup finals. European Super Cup.
Olympiacos, executioners Aston Villa, and Fiorentina, who eliminated Club Brugge, will meet on Wednesday 29 May in Athens from 22:00 local time (20:00 in Lisbon) in the final of the third tournament.
