Antonio Silva, one of the founders of the club that produced players such as Ricardo Quaresma and Joao Pereira, has died.

António Silva, one of the founders of Desportivo Domingos Sávio and who helped launch the careers of footballers such as Ricardo Quaresma, João Pereira and José Domínguez, died this Monday at the age of 88, the Lisbon club announced.

“Rest in peace, Mr. Antonio. Domingos Savio, one of the main founders of Desportivo, passed away this morning. A sad day for our club. Many young people trained with Mr. Antonio Silva, who left many memories,” the club announced through social networks.

Silas, José Carlos or Valido were other athletes who reached the top of Portuguese football, starting their training at Domingos Savio, based in Campo de Ourique, under the guidance of António Silva.

A Mass will be held this Monday at Manik Chapel, followed by a funeral Mass on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m., followed by burial.
