On Tuesday, the management of the LPFP approved the implementation of this technology (Goal Line Technology, GLT) to evaluate the progress of the goals, following a project that began in 2020/21 and which has already been discussed by the various working groups of the organization under the leadership of Pedro. According to the same source, the LPFP will launch an open tender for proposals to provide this service under the supervision of LPFP chief executive Helena Pires, the clubs and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). .
With a target of use in 2025/26, the LPFP will continue to operate in the first half of 2025, with a period of infrastructural adaptation and testing of the GLT.
The English League pioneered the introduction of this technology in 2013, and it has already been implemented in the major championships of Italy, Germany, France and the Netherlands.
